The other day I was surfing around youtube and found the craziest video of a candle sculpture. As the camera focuses, we see a purple candle hanging from its wick. BruceCarvesWax, a candle maker who operates the Ebay Store Baur Candle, describes that 28 layers of wax have been added to the candle we see here.
Now, how can one appreciate 28 layers of wax? Most would think that you MUST burn a candle to see each and every spectacular layer. But that is just not the case! Bruce takes out his handy dandy pocket knife and puts it to work. His sharp knife slices through the candle like butter and he was on his way to sculpting the candle like the ancient Greeks and Romans used to carve statues out of marble. Given that the wax is malleable, Bruce is able to bend and twist his candle into rose petal-like shapes.
Just when you think this couldn’t be cool enough, Bruce gives the candle one sharp twist from the wrist and our eyes are treated to a kaleidoscopic blur of purple and gold.

Now my youtube was on auto play, so the fun didn’t stop there. My next video was from a Romanian candle artists who set our to make a valentines day candle sculpture. At first, I was a bit confused how this was going to turn out. TO tell you the truth, it looked a bit like a dream sickle sculpture.
What threw me off was the orange color, but within a few moments, I was stunned by the way this Romanian was able to create flowers and twists and turns with the cold wax. One thing I wasn’t a huge fan of was the fact that they used crafting materials to spruce it up at the end. Part of the joy of candle sculptures are the fact that it is only made from wax.
